A male bird flies thousands of kilometers for 15 years, only to be reunited with his partner.

An elderly Croatian man saved a wounded white stork, Malena, who could no longer fly. A male stork, Ak, fell in love with her. Every year, he traveled 16,000 kilometers between South Africa and Europe to reunite with her for fifteen years. When Ak failed to return one spring, the old man wrote to Lebanon’s president. The touching story pushed the country to amend bird-protection laws overnight. Just as everyone lost hope, Ak came back, badly injured but alive.
