Small Room Makeover: Everything That Went Wrong (and the Wallpaper That Saved It)

It did not go to plan. I tried an orange juice wallpaper removal hack, painted over old wallpaper paste and watched my walls turn to mud, mixed a batch of paste so runny it ran down my arms, and battled the flat pack day bed until I had to call in help. So this isn’t a quick weekend transformation. It’s everything that really went into this room, the mistakes included, so hopefully you can avoid a few of them in your own home. I almost played it safe with a neutral or blue wallpaper, and I nearly went for a much pricier Sanderson design, but my heart kept coming back to this butter yellow Martha Stewart paper. It’s warm and cheerful, which is exactly what I want in a small room through an Irish autumn and winter. I’d love to hear your DIY disasters in the comments.
